It would also allow you to navigate the 3d map space using left/right/up/down controls. The tool while being held in hand would record where you have been and have a 3d map similar to the sea glide's map where you can see where you have been based on the terrain surface area being colored differently. The scanner rooms essentially house the hard drives that all the map data is stored on and the tool would read this data. What would be cool is using the scanner room not only to scan resources but also terrain data and have a separate handheld tool that lets you scroll through the map (like a hybrid of the control room's base map and the sea glide map). Obviously they want you to use a lot of beacons but it doesn't help in discovering areas you may have missed especially with the maziness of some areas. One of the pain points in this game is not having a map. ![]()
